STRATFORD - Stratford school officials met with parents and students of Chapel Street Elementary School to discuss why they canceled an overnight field trip.

The town's superintendent of schools, the school's principal and the board of education chairman were at the meeting.

Parents say they are upset their sixth-grade students won't be able to go on the overnight trip to Nature's Classroom.

They say they recently learned teachers didn't feel comfortable chaperoning the trip after an alleged incident with a tutor.

The school's principal says she supports the teachers' concerns and apologizes for not communicating with parents sooner.
