NEW BRITAIN - A panel created after the Newtown school shooting met Thursday with teachers, principals and administrators to discuss school security.

The School Safety Infrastructure Council held court in New Britain.

The council has been instructed to recommend new safety standards to the state's General Assembly by Jan. 1.

Members are looking at a variety of measures, including reinforcing entryways and using computer-controlled locks and buzzer systems.
