OXFORD - An Oxford man was arraigned today in the murder of his estranged wife.

Police say Scott Gellatly forced his way into his in-laws' home in Oxford at around 5:30 a.m. yesterday and shot his wife Lori and her mother Mary Jackson. The Gellatlys' 18-month-old twins were upstairs in their cribs during the incident.

Officers say Lori Gellatly was pronounced dead at the hospital and that Jackson is in serious but stable condition.

Police later found the suspect unconscious in his car after he had allegedly rigged a hose from the exhaust into his car to kill himself.

Court documents show the victim was afraid for her life and filed a restraining order against her husband last month. Scott Gellatly had an outstanding warrant from an incident with his wife on April 1. That warrant says Lori Gellatly claimed her husband was bipolar and recently told his doctor his medications weren't working. Scott Gellatly resigned from his job at Red Hawk Fire and Security in Orange last month.

Scott Gellatly had been scheduled to be in court Thursday morning with his wife after she filed for a restraining order against him.

Instead, he stood in the courthouse charged with her murder.

Scott Gellatly is being held on $2 million bond. The judge ordered a mental health evaluation and suicide watch.

He is due in court in Milford on Tuesday.
