WILTON - A terminally ill woman from Wilton is getting a helping hand from her senator.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal says he's trying to get federally funded health care benefits for 58-year-old Lee Miller, who suffers from ALS, a disabling neurological condition that impairs everything from muscle movements to breathing.

As News 12 Connecticut has reported, Miller's husband Philip says he spent his entire savings on his wife's medical care when insurance refused to pay, and now the bank is about to take away his home.

Blumenthal says the case is tragic.

"Phil Miller exhausted his savings and his wife's and came to us for help," Blumenthal says. "I'm proud that we go to bat and champion causes like Phil Miller's."

Philip Miller says he's grateful for the senator's help.
