BRIDGEPORT - Sen. Chris Murphy met today with some of Bridgeport's homeless population at HOT, a homeless outreach center.

Benjamin Cardona, who lives in his van, invited Murphy to spend a day with him to see what it's like, and Murphy agreed.

Murphy says because of a sequester, there has been a 6-percent cut of federal funding to programs which help people like Cardona.

Those cuts will continue each year if lawmakers don't agree on a budget in Washington.

Murphy says he blames Republicans because they are not compromising in Washington.
