Shamar Brooks, 29, killed in car accident on Merritt Parkway

ORANGE - A car accident on Merritt Parkway killed a 29-year-old Bridgeport native early Saturday morning.

Police say Shamar Brooks was thrown from his Chevy Cavalier at around 2:30 a.m. after it struck a guardrail. Police say he was then hit by another car.

The two other people in the car are recovering at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Residents who spoke with News 12 say the area where the accident occurred is poorly lit. The crash happened between exits 55 and 56, near the Orange rest stop.

State police ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call them.
