BRIDGEPORT - (AP) - The longtime campaign manager forformer U.S. Rep. Chris Shays has been arrested on charges heembezzled about $250,000 in campaign funds.
Tom Carson, spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's office, says34-year-old Michael Sohn of Fairfield was arrested Friday on a12-count indictment charging him with stealing the campaign moneyover four years. He also was charged with filing false campaignreports and tax offenses.
A telephone message was left Friday with Sohn's attorney, PhilipRussell.
Sohn is expected to appear in U.S. District Court in BridgeportFriday.
Shays, a moderate Republican who served 10 terms in Congress,narrowly lost to Democrat Jim Himes in the race for southwesternConnecticut's 4th District.
