SHELTON - Police in Shelton are searching for the owner of a dog found wandering in traffic Monday night.

Officials say the dog was originally found by a woman driving on Booth Hill Road. They say the woman took the dog home and from there, Animal Control brought him to Shelton Animal Shelter for special care.

Police say the dog's name is Hank. According to Friends of the Shelton Animal Shelter group, Hank is malnourished and has cuts on his front legs from walking through icy conditions.

Volunteers of the Westport Animal Shelter Advocates group say Hank's owner needs to be found and face consequences.

Police say to contact Animal Control if you have information about Hank's owner.
