NORWALK - Shoppers hit the stores across southwestern Connecticut on Christmas Eve to get last-minute gifts for the holiday.

Stores offered special deals in hopes of boosting holiday sales.

Many retailers said this shopping season was their best one since 2007.

Retailers, including Old Navy and Toys "R" Us, stayed open 24 hours in an effort to cash in on extra sales.

Retailers are already marking down all of their holiday merchandise that didn't sell and are advertising "Day After Christmas" sales.
