NORWALK - The company that made the carnival ride that hurt 13 people at the Norwalk Oyster Festival last month is claiming the owner is responsible.

Chance Rides says simple, routine maintenance would have revealed a problem that caused part of the engine to break.

However, Stewart Amusement, which owns the ride, says its crews followed all manufacturer specifications and performed maintenance regularly.

Witnesses say the machine suddenly stopped, causing riders to slam into each other.

Chance is asking other owners to inspect their rides.
