NORWALK - Beiersdorf Incorporated announced Thursday that it will be closing its South Norwalk facility.

According to the company, that facility doesn't meet Beiersdorf's future long-term requirements. A company spokesman said in an e-mailed statement that the 170 job losses will occur over the next 12 months. The company also says it will help those workers find new employment.

According to the company's Web site, Beiersdorf Incorporated is a global skin and beauty care company which manufactures and markets brands such as Nivea, Basis and Eucerin.

In the e-mailed statement, the company says the closure of the facility is part of a broad and strategic review of it's American supply chain operations.
