DARIEN - A small group of former Occupy Wall Street protesters occupied a park in Darien today, still drawing a police presence while miffing the town's residents. Police say 11 people showed up at the rally in Tilley Pond Park, even though they planned for a large turnout. They say nearly a dozen officers worked overtime and that they set up a mobile command unit to help manage the crowds. However, residents said they were not pleased with the event, claiming the protesters are a financial burden. "They talk about wasteful spending and the deficit, but they've just added to it by causing a tremendous amount of overtime with the Darien police," one resident said. Those in attendance said they will continue to protest despite limited group size and rainy weather.
