REDDING - One Redding mother is thankful for yesterday's storm because it means her son will be staying home a few extra days.

David Curtis, a U.S. Marine, had been set to return back after his leave.

However, the storm bought him a few extra days at home before he has to report back.

Curtis was previously stationed in Afghanistan for seven months.
