Southbury man suspected in burglaries appears in court

WILTON - A Southbury man suspected in a string of car and home break-ins appeared in court today after he was arrested for allegedly driving drunk and crashing on the Merritt Parkway. Officials say Daniel Tidgwell, who has not yet been charged in the burglaries, had drug paraphernalia in his car after the crash and also had items that were reported stolen in Middlebury, Stamford and Southbury.

Tidgwell, 26, was released on $20,000 bond and checked into a treatment center in Danbury for drug abuse.

Police say they are still investigating the break-ins.
