NORWALK - Many boaters are taking extra precautions today as Hurricane Earl moves toward southwestern Connecticut.

Many at Norwalk Cove Marina spent the day tying up their sails and using extra lines to tie down their boats for more stabilization. Some also installed fenders to protect their vessels from the wind.

"We figured today was the day to really do anything that we had to do," says boater Bette Conner.

The manager of the marina says he will take in all the patio furniture to secure the dock.

Even as they were preparing, many said they would not let Earl disrupt their plans for the holiday weekend.
