WESTON - Police departments in southwestern Connecticut are pooling their resources to apprehend those involved with increasing nighttime burglaries.

The suspect?s calling card has been taking items out of unlocked cars while their owners are asleep. Detective Carl Filsinger, of the Weston Police Department, says they?re investigating about a dozen nighttime burglaries in the past month. Just recently, a credit card stolen from a victim was used in Fairfield while other stolen property has been discovered in Redding.

?I think if we have one, we have one too many,? says Filsinger.

The suspects are reportedly taking credit cards and GPS units from cars in driveways. Weston Police Chief John Troxell says they?ve increased patrols in certain areas.

?Lock your cars. Don?t leave your keys in your cars. Don?t leave valuables in your car,? advises Troxell.

Officials say the burglaries have mainly been in the area of Godfrey Road West with others near Lyon Plain Road. Anyone with any information about these burglaries is encouraged to contact the Weston Police Department.
