BRIDGEPORT - As southwestern Connecticut prepares for the worst hurricane threat since 1985, local grocery stores are seeing many items fly off the shelves ahead of Irene?s arrival.

Compare Foods in Bridgeport says it has seen a huge influx of shoppers since the storm was first announced.

The manager at Compare Foods says milk, water, bread and crackers have been the most popular items among shoppers looking to stock up before the hurricane makes landfall.
