STAMFORD - A blizzard, that brought 12-18 inches to southwestern Connecticut, also caused power outages across the area.

Wires came down on Woodland Road in Stamford this morning.

The strong winds also sent a tree crashing down onto cars in Bridgeport. Three of the five cars hit were parked in a driveway and were badly damaged.

Gov. Jodi Rell says the state is ready to assist towns and cities needing help to clear snow. Rell says state offices are closed, but state plow operators are on duty.

People living on secondary roads spent the day cleaning their streets. If your street still needs to be plowed, you can call the city?s emergency operations center.
