STRATFORD - A special meeting on the sale of Long Beach West to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is scheduled for Monday night.

Town council members are questioning the validity of the sale contract. Mayor Jim Miron says it?s unfair to try and nix the $10 million deal without public input.

The public is invited to the meeting, but not permitted to talk.

Council chairman Mike Henrick says he wants to know who is liable for the property after the sale. He also wants to know how much it will cost to tear down and clean up dilapidated cottages on the beach.

The mayor says all the answers are laid out in the contract and is encouraging the public to read it. A spokesperson for the company mediating the deal will also be at the meeting to answer questions from the council.
