BRIDGEPORT - Speed detectors have been installed around Bridgeport in an effort to curb traffic-related fatalities.

Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch says the goal is to make drivers more conscious of their speed.

He says the detectors have already made a difference in getting drivers to slow down.

“These speed readouts work because most people want to obey the law, and if we remind them, they will,” says Finch.

Finch says a permanent speed detector will be set up in front of the Discovery Magnet School on Park Avenue.
