REDDING - Redding police say a speed trailer that tells drivers how fast they are going was sprayed with gunshots in front of a school.

Officials say someone fired shots at the speed trailer outside John Read Middle School on Route 53.

A sergeant noticed the bullet holes when he was going to recharge the batteries on the trailer.

Captain Mark O'Donnell says it is the town's only speed trailer, and costs about $15,000. He says the incident probably happened during the night and nobody was hurt.

While most speed trailers have cameras on them, this trailer did not. They say a new speed trailer they are getting in a few weeks should have a camera.

News 12 has learned that police do not have any suspects or leads. They are asking anyone with information to contact authorities.
