NEW CANAAN - Two southwestern Connecticut towns are helping residents with their spring cleanout of their medicine cabinets.

New Canaan and Wilton invited residents to drop off prescription drugs they no longer need to protect the environment, remove a temptation to abuse the drugs and keep the drugs out of the hands of teens and young adults.

Once collected, everything from human and pet medication, to even vitamins, is identified and counted by local pharmacists. They're then packed up to be disposed of properly.
