STAMFORD - A 10-year-old Stamford boy is home recovering tonight after police say he was injured by an exploding rocket.

Police say the boy was holding a rocket he built with his dad when it exploded, causing burns to his torso, arms and legs. The boy was taken to Stamford Hospital.

The boy's dad says building rockets from a kit is a hobby he enjoys with his son. He says it was a freak accident.

Police say the bomb squad is investigating to determine whether the father should face charges.
