STAMFORD - A Stamford family is safe tonight after lightning struck their house during the overnight, touching off a fire.

Fire officials were called in and said they were able to put out the blaze in 15 minutes. Most of the damage was to the back of the house, while there was very little internal damage, officials said.

The five people home at the time were all able to get out safely.

The house is still habitable, despite smoke and fire damage, and no electricity.
