Stamford fire ruins wedding plans

STAMFORD - A bride-to-be and her fiance, who planned to marry this week, were forced to jump from the second story of a Stamford home after a fire broke out during a pre-wedding celebration.

It happened at a home on Newfield Avenue Saturday morning.

More than 50 people were inside celebrating when the blaze broke out.

The brother of the groom says they are working to make the wedding happen this weekend, but because a passport was destroyed in the fire, the couple may not be able to take their honeymoon.

Family members say at least five people were taken to the hospital, but have been released.

Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the fire.
