STAMFORD - A Stamford man is facing several charges after police say he groped six girls during a fifth-grade school field trip to New York City.

About 100 students and 40 chaperones from Stillmeadow School were on the trip, including 35-year-old Tomas Manzano and his son.

The school's principal, Dr. Mike Sanders, says several girls came up to him and told him Manzano had touched them inappropriately. Sanders says he called police immediately.

Police say Manzano appeared to be intoxicated when he was arrested. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital for evaluation.

Manzano is charged with sexual abuse, endangering the welfare of a child and resisting arrest.
