STAMFORD - A Stamford man is recovering in the hospital after crashing an ATV into a car in Stamford Thursday evening.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Broad and Grove streets just after 10 p.m.

Police say the ATV struck the back of a Kia, causing the quad to flip over and eject the driver.

Hospital officials say the ATV's driver, 51-year-old Mark Jagozinski,  is in fair condition after suffering head injuries. Jagozinski was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police say.

Investigators say they've been unable to interview Jagozinski as he remains hospitalized due to his injuries. They say that he could face charges, because ATVs are not permitted to be driven on roads or highways under Connecticut law.

The 22-year-old driver of the Kia complained of back injuries from the accident.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the accident to call them.
