STAMFORD - Stamford hosted its third annual Youth Employment Program on Thursday, an event local officials say will help boost the city's economy.

Seventy-five students took part in the program, which taught them how to dress, how to write a resume and how to behave in a professional environment. Mayor Mike Pavia says he started the event when he realized teens were getting pushed out of summer jobs by unemployed professionals looking for part-time work.

Of the 75 participants, 20 have landed paid summer positions at Starwood Headquarters.
