Stamford, Milford businesses ordered to stop working

The state has ordered 19 companies in Stamford and Milford to stop working.The Labor Department says the orders were issued to companies that incorrectly listed

STAMFORD - The state has ordered 19 companies in Stamford and Milford to stop working.

The Labor Department says the orders were issued to companies that incorrectly listed employees as independent contractors in an attempt to not pay taxes.

The state says the companies will be fined $300 a day until they fix the problem.
