STAMFORD - Stamford authorities say a stabbing victim pinned down his alleged attacker in a Washington Heights lobby Tuesday morning until police arrived.

Edward Saarel is in custody after the alleged attack that injured his elderly mother, another woman and the man who ultimately wrestled him to the ground.

Saarel, 50, allegedly beat his mother and then stabbed the other two victims.

The three victims were treated at the hospital and released. Saarel was also taken to Stamford Hospital for an evaluation.
