Stamford police arrest man after standoff

STAMFORD - A Stamford man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly robbed a convenience store at gunpoint and then barricaded himself in his home.

Police say 28-year-old  Blake Chicatell walked into the Mu Ranchito Variety Store on Hope Street, showed a gun and stole close to $300.

Authorities say they then tracked Chicatell from the store to his apartment on Douglas Avenue, where he barricaded himself inside and threatened to kill himself.  Police say they negotiated with Chicatell for about an hour before he gave himself up.

According to police, no one was injured during the incident.
