STAMFORD - The Stamford Police Department Bomb Squad today showed News 12 Connecticut the equipment it uses to find and disarm bombs.

The bomb squad explained various methods to ascertain the nature of the devices, such as special suits and robots that allow them to remain safe while still inspecting the device. Investigators say that the devices used in the Boston Marathon bombing were typical of homemade explosives.

Officials say their call volume has increased by 20 percent since the attack on Boston.
