Stamford police mourn death of Sgt. Terri Vitti

The Stamford police department is mourning the loss of one of its veteran officers. Sgt. Terri Vitti passed away this week after battling cancer.

STAMFORD - The Stamford Police Department is mourning the loss of a veteran officer.

Sgt. Terri Vitti passed away this week after battling cancer. The Stamford Police Association says Vitti was a mentor and set an example for many officers in the department.

The group says she served with the department for more than 28 years. Vitti's husband is a member of the department as well.

A wake will be held Friday for Vitti at the Knapp Funeral Home in Greenwich. A funeral will be held Saturday at St. Leo Church in Stamford.
