STAMFORD - Stamford police are searching for the suspects in a smash-and-grab burglary that took place at a jewelry store early this morning. The incident happened at Peter Suchy Jewelers at 1025 High Ridge Road at around 2:45 a.m. Investigators say the suspects smashed through the front door, stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of merchandise. The owner says he received a telephone call around the time of the break-in, and that he cannot believe the magnitude of the theft. "I have a fairly serious heart condition," he says. "I was worried about that. It's just not an easy thing to go through." Police say they are also surprised since the robbery took place next door to a police substation. Anyone with information is urged to call Stamford police at 203-977-4444.
