STAMFORD - A teacher in Stamford is accused of having sex with a student.

Norwalk police say Danielle Watkins, 32, turned herself in Thursday morning. Watkins is an English teacher at Stamford High School.

Police say the sexual relationship had been going on with an 18-year-old student for about 10 months. Police also say Watkins assaulted the student when he tried to end the relationship.

Parents and students that attend Stamford High School say they can't believe the situation.

Watkins is also accused of selling marijuana to the 18-year-old and a second 15-year-old student.

News 12 is told Watkins was released Thursday on $100,000 bond.

The Stamford Board of Education released a statement saying that Watkins is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
