STAMFORD - The city of Stamford is experimenting with some new "green" alternatives in honor of Earth Week.

Mayor Mike Pavia (R-Stamford) says Chevrolet has loaned the city two Chevy Volt electric cars to test out and possibly add to the city's fleet.

Pavia says he hopes the public will consider switching to electric cars, just like the city is.

The Chevy Volt uses a combination of electric and gasoline power and gets an estimated 94 miles to the gallon of gas.
