NORWALK - Police say a Stamford therapist appeared in court today after officers found firearms and other weapons at his home.

Authorities say John Gagnon is charged with criminal possession of a handgun by a felon, among other firearms charges, after police found firearms and bladed weapons at his home.

Stamford police say they searched Gagnon's house after one of his clients told them he was acting odd and wearing a handgun during therapy sessions. Gagnon is a convicted felon and police say he posed as an officer in 1987 and assaulted a female driver.

Gagnon is also on the Connecticut sex offender registry.
