STAMFORD - Stamford officials voted Monday night in favor of equipping the city's police officers with body cameras.

The Stamford Board of Representatives' financial committee last month approved the measure.

Mayor David Martin says he believes the cameras will benefit both the diverse population of Stamford and its police officers.

Officials say a federal grant will cover some of the cost of the cameras.
