STAMFORD - The Stamford woman facing criminal charges for allegedly leaving her kids inside her apartment all night unattended spoke exclusively with News 12 Connecticut today.

Sindy Cameros-Perez says she asked someone to watch her children at her Fairfield Avenue apartment and that person took off, calling the police on her. The 29-year-old now says that the Department of Children and Families has taken away her children.

Cameros-Perez says she left home late Saturday night to go to work. She says she returned Sunday morning to find police with her four kids, ages 7 to 12.

Investigators say the children were left alone for more than eight hours in the apartment. However, Cameros-Perez claims the situation is a misunderstanding.

The mother now faces charges of risk of injury to a minor and is expected back in court on July 19.
