DARIEN - Police say they've arrested a Stamford woman who allegedly sped off after fatally hitting two motorists on I-95 early Saturday.

According to investigators, Felipe Chagas, 19, and Lucas Silva, 22, were on the right shoulder of I-95 by exit 11 in Darien, trying to change a flat tire after spending the night out with friends.

Witnesses say a woman was driving at extreme speeds when she hit the two and drove off without stopping. The two young men were pronounced dead.

Darien police caught up with the woman, Candice Blanks, 39, of Bedford Street, further south on I-95. She has been charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated, and is being held on $250,000 bond.
