STAMFORD - The family of the woman who was hit by a stolen taxi cab last Thursday says she is in the process of recovery.

Brenda Snell's family says she had surgery to reconstruct her pelvis at Yale New Haven Hospital Saturday. They also mention that Snell can now open her eyes but still cannot speak.

Police say Snell, 48, was walking home near Still Water Avenue and West Main Street in Stamford when she was hit from behind. Officials have not disclosed whether or not the driver of the cab has been found.
