State approves new charter schools in Bridgeport, New Haven and Stamford

BRIDGEPORT - State officials have given approval to four new charter schools.

The Connecticut State Board of Education approved them yesterday, after several hours of hearings.

Two of the schools will be in Bridgeport with the others in Stamford and New Haven.

Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch said,  "I'm thrilled the State Board of Ed gave the green light for these schools to get approved, helping to ensure that additional high-quality public school options will be available."
