HARTFORD - Lawmakers say they are dealing with consequences of a bill that would ban the importing, selling, and purchasing of ivory or rhinoceros horns.

Lawmakers say the bill is designed to prevent illegal trading of those items in the state and to conform with laws in New Jersey and New York.

Some lawmakers question whether the ban should apply to certain collectables, including World War II items.

The bill currently exempts ivory that is at least 100 years old or part of a musical instrument built before 1975.
