STRATFORD - The Stratford fire marshal says state officials gave him a safety alert to watch out for victims of a popular Internet trend called the "fire challenge."

The game involves children and teens recording themselves while they pour rubbing alcohol on their bodies before setting themselves on fire. They then share the video online.

The alert warns departments about the trend and when to send victims to a burn center. Stratford Fire Marshal Brian Lampert says his department has not responded to any calls involving children setting themselves on fire and wants to keep it that way.

"We like an empty burn unit," says Bridgeport Hospital ER Physician, Dr. Michael Werdmann. "We really don't want you in here, getting skin grafted."
