NORWALK - State police say two local troopers helped deliver a baby on I-95 in Norwalk during rush hour Thursday morning.
Troopers John Ring and Willis Gonzalez say they have never delivered a baby on the job before, but that they are trained for it.
The troopers say the special delivery happened near exit 16 in the southbound lane. They say they took the mother out of the car and laid her down on a blanket until an ambulance arrived on the scene.
They say their primary concern at the time was to keep the parents calm.
The baby was successfully delivered by an EMS and paramedic en route to Norwalk Hospital, according to the troopers.
They say the mother and baby were transported safely to the hospital.
