HARTFORD - State police say it was a deadly holiday weekend on the roads.

Police say they saw an increase in speeding and distracted and unsafe driving.

From Friday to Monday, troopers say they responded to three fatal accidents on state roads

They also say 45 people were arrested for driving under the influence.

Troopers say they handed out more than 1,900 tickets for speeding.

They say infraction and fatalitly statistics are up significantly from Labor Day weekend last year.
