CONNECTICUT - With opening day just a few weeks away a new poll says the Yankees are gaining popularity in Connecticut.

Quinnipiac University's annual baseball poll found that 44 percent of state residents are fans of the Bronx Bombers. About 37 percent of state residents follow the Red Sox.

The seven-point lead is the Yankees biggest since 2006.

Unfortunately for the Mets, their support is slipping. Only six percent say they support the Amazins. It's their worst showing in the poll's 13-year history.
