State preparing for falling trees from Irene

The state Department of Transportation is getting ready in case Irene hits the region.The DOT is concerned about downed trees blocking roads and knocking out

HARTFORD - The state Department of Transportation is getting ready in case Irene hits the region.

The DOT is concerned about downed trees blocking roads and knocking out power, so there will be 13 special tree crews ready to clear streets.

Fears of possible power outages also have Connecticut Light & Power developing a response plan.

United Illuminating is also expected to speak later today on its plans.
