HARTFORD - The governor's office says 40 of the 103 state workers who were fired earlier this year are back on the job.

They were let go after an investigation into food stamp fraud following Tropical Storm Irene.

A union official says an arbitrator found many of the employees made mistakes on the food stamp applications and did not intentionally commit fraud.
