State Rep. Caruso protests 'juvenile jail' proposal

BRIDGEPORT - State Representative Chris Caruso, of Bridgeport, spoke out in support of the 'De-Rail The Jail' committee Saturday to put a stop to Gov. M. Jodi Rell's proposal to build a 'juvenile jail.?

Caruso says Rell is ignoring the community's opposition to install a jail in Bridgeport. Mayor Bill Finch offered to move the proposed jail to another location in the city, but according to Caruso, Rell has refused to negotiate. The jail proposal is scheduled on the Governor's Bond Agenda next Friday, says Caruso. Concerned residents may be taken by bus to the Capital to voice their opinions.

Caruso says a candlelight vigil is set to take place on Wednesday night at the proposed jail site.
